earth day treasury

Here is a little treasury I created for Etsy Earth Day. It includes handmade eco products by a variety of talented artists.

I included one of our NEW earth friendly graphic t-shirts for kids. Ecozuzu Earth Art t-shirt is made out of 100% organic cotton and the graphic was silkscreened with non-toxic water based ink. The designer eco tee is also available for adults (same galaxy blue color as well as a new charcoal and eco silver ink that was commissioned by the Santa Barbara Museum of Art store). The shirts are newly available at the SBMA store, the Lotus Boutique and on Etsy online.

Hope you all had a great Earth Day! xoxo

SBIFF highlights

Please come see the world premier 'First Day' at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. It's a short film written and directed by Jared Ingram (Looking Up Dresses), introducing and starring our nieces Evabella & Georgia Sandberg.

It was fun seeing James Franco speak and discuss his film career (ending with the brilliant 127 Hours). James Franco mentioned that he will have another exhibit at the MOCA (featuring the soap he's been on). Seth Rogan presented Franco with an award after. Seth Rogan was HI-larious (he made fun of our theatre and ordered a margarita).

One of the fun perks of being in the film festival are the passes! We really enjoyed sitting 4th row at most of the events. Can you tell I'm thrilled from the photo? :)

Leonardo DiCaprio (actor, environmentalist and philanthropist) was also at the SB Film Festival to present a well deserved award to Christopher Nolan (Inception, Dark Knight, Momento). Nolan is a GENIUS. Inception was one of my favorite films this year. I also recommend watching the blue ray dvd extras (it has a very interesting piece on the science of dreams).

Leo has also had an impressive film career so far. Some of my favorites include Inception, The Daparted, Aviator, Gangs of New York, Romeo + Juliet and The Basketball Diaries. But what I am most impressed with is how Leonardo DiCaprio uses his celebrity to help causes and charities in need. He is a fantastic advocate for promoting sustainability and protecting the environment. Please help support his cause to Save Tigers Now along with WWF (World Wildlife Fund). It's an amazing organization.

california dreamin'

Our earth friendly clothing brand Ecozuzu was recently featured on this lovely California Dreamin' ETSY treasury by Blue Grass Vintage. Can you spot our Poppy Flower recycled eco thermal long sleeve? It's an illustration I created based on some flowers my husband gave me. Along the bottom of the graphic is a poem by Mark Twain "dance like nobody is watching, love like you've never been hurt, live life to the fullest".

mid-century modern

I have a confession to make. I am addicted to Etsy. Big time.

It's not just the fact that we have an Ecozuzu store on Etsy. It's the fact that I am obsessed with making treasuries on Etsy! What is a treasury you ask? Well, as you know Etsy sells vintage items or hand-made items by artisans around the world. A treasury is when a seller/buyers like me collects their favorite items on Etsy and arrange them into a specific color or themed collage.

I should have known making treasuries would be addicting for me (seeing that one entire wall in my office is covered in a ceiling to floor massive collage that I made eight years ago). I've been adding to it ever since.

The other reason I like making treasuries, is it feels like going window shopping. Who doesn't like to do that? I also like promoting other artists, while also promoting my own store. It's also a fun competition to try and get your treasury on Etsy's official front page. I love me a good competition ;)

Well, maybe I can ease up now because my latest treasury was featured on the Etsy home page yesterday!

organic, fair trade & on sale?

Yes, yes and yes! Starting today Ecozuzu's fair trade, 100% organic 'flower drawing' skirts are 50% off!

This people/earth friendly garment is normally $79 and now on summer sale for $40! Not only does it help your wallet, it helps the environment and people.

The skirt is fair trade - hand made by a women's cooperative in India. Created to help women worldwide gain economic security. With each skirt purchased, we help fund 1% of a grant for women launching small businesses in Africa.

Ecozuzu is also a small business launched by women. The owner/designer is Josephine Tournier Ingram. After working years as a graphic artist in the skateboard industry, she had a dream of creating an earth friendly fashion line. That dream became a reality with Ecozuzu.

An Eco-hip California brand with an eco-celebrity following. Ecozuzu clothing is all about being cool, comfy and conscious. An ideal mix of style and edge. A sustainable brand that epitomizes all that is beachy, laid back and Santa Barbara, not to mention eco.

breaking through the clouds

I am obsessed with making Etsy treasuries right now. Here's another one I made called breaking through the clouds featuring hand made eco products and updated vintage gifts.

Please click on the link above - the more hits we get the higher the chance we will get published on the front page. Thank you!

I really like these fused glass, metal, mixed media necklaces by German sculpture artist Almut Flenjte. Worn with a thick silver chain, women are actually able to wear a piece of her art. Her sculptures are normally large pieces exhibited in galleries around Europe. I was lucky to get to visit her beautiful art studio/gallery in Berlin, and I have to say that her art/sculptures looks better in person. Part of what I enjoy about her work is how light comes through the glass (it's really hard to capture that in photos). I recommend checking out her fun, whimsical and creative work. Not just because she's my aunt :)

birds of ohio

Birds of Ohio provides inspiration to designers with their collection of vintage fabric, garments, and prints. I love their 1962 built home featured on design sponge! This is where I imagine Don Draper (Mad Men) would live today :)

inception

Here is a little photo collage I made from the movie Inception. It was AMAZING!

It was a smart, artistic, creative and thrilling film by Christopher Noland. Amazing performance (especially by Marion Cotiallard and Leonardo DiCaprio). Great touch to add music from Edith Piaf - reminding me of Marion's other amazing role in La Vie en Rose).

orange you glad it's summer?

Here's another Etsy treasury I made inspired by some fun artists featured on the site. Suddenly I'm craving orange juice on this hot summer day!

it's time!

I've never worn a watch. Not for more than a day anyways. But times have changed! Since I got this kinetic turquoise watch from Dutch company Dyrberg/Kern, I've been wearing it almost every day.

It's fashionable, but is also sporty and practical. I can surf with it since it's water-proof (up to 50 meters). Now when I'm in the water waiting for a set, I can finally keep track of the time! :)

eco valentine

Looking for an earth friendly Valentine's Day gift? Here are some ideas from ecozuzu. Have a great week!

3d

Got to see a screening of the 3D documentary Aliens of the Deep by James Cameron, at the Santa Barbara Film Festival this morning. James Cameron spoke after the screening. He talked to us about the importance of protecting our planet. He also told us that his recent big hit Avatar was visually inspired by his deep sea explorations, such as the one in his documentary.

That reminds me of another one of his films about the deep sea...The Abyss. An oldie but goodie.

moma ncy

We saw the Tim Burton exhibit at the Moma in NYC. It was amazing! It was crowded since it was close to the opening during Thanksgiving, but still worth it. At one point I was standing next to John Mayor while we were looking at the artwork. Our group of friends met him - he's a nice guy with a good album out. I recommend checking out both artists when you get a chance!

The Guggenheim Museum in New York City is one of my favorite museums. We recently saw a Kandinsky exhibit there. It was beautiful!
